Servicio Geológico Nacional

El Servicio Geológico Nacional (SGN), organismo creado mediante la Ley 50-10, en el año 2010, con la finalidad de producir información actualizada sobre las características geológicas básicas del territorio nacional, así como de velar por la generación, almacenamiento, actualización y difusión de conocimientos para el bienestar de la sociedad dominicana.

Las funciones principales que desempeña el Servicio Geológico Nacional (SGN) son:

Ejecutar la cartografía geológica nacional a escala adecuada. Evaluar los recursos geológicos (mineros, hídricos, energéticos) y su integración en base de datos georeferenciados. Realizar estudios e investigaciones sectoriales que ayuden a paliar el deterioro medioambiental, la correcta planificación territorial y la sostenibilidad de sus recursos naturales.
